»Taiwan’s national quantum-computing strategy is increasingly focused on superconducting quantum computing, leveraging Taiwan’s strong capabilities in semiconductor manufacturing and advanced packaging, among other promising quantum-computing modalities. Academia Sinica has been tasked with establishing a Quantum Technology Research Center at its South Campus, as part of a broader effort to develop a national HPC–QC heterogeneous hybrid computing system in southern Taiwan. In this context, I will describe our efforts at Academia Sinica to build a full-stack superconducting quantum computer. These efforts can be broadly divided into three areas: design, fabrication, and characterization of quantum processing unit (QPU) chips. While chip design and fabrication are critical to determining the performance of a quantum computer, I will only briefly discuss these aspects due to time constraints. Instead, I will focus on the construction of a full-stack quantum-computing system, including system integration, QPU bring-up, and the development of software for automated control and calibration.

In particular, I will discuss our recent efforts toward AI-agent-assisted autonomous calibration, in which AI agents are integrated into the quantum-computing control and calibration workflow. This approach highlights the close integration of quantum computers with classical high-performance computing resources and points toward a more autonomous and scalable approach to operating future quantum processors.«
