Doc. dr. Bojan Žunkovič

I obtained my PhD in 2012 at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana, followed by postdoctoral research periods in Chile, at the SISSA Institute in Trieste, and again at the University of Ljubljana. Since 2020, I have been employed at the Faculty of Computer and Information Science at the University of Ljubljana as an assistant and researcher.

My research focuses on the intertwining of machine learning, quantum computing, and multi-body quantum systems. I am particularly interested in normalizing currents, neural quantum states, tensor networks, variational approaches to optimization problems, and new algorithmic and computational paradigms such as quantum and classical reservoir computers and variational quantum computing. I also participate in interdisciplinary and applied projects, including in the field of medical diagnostics and algorithm optimization, which is one of the key motivations for my research work.
