Enter the world of supercomputers and artificial intelligence: Open Day at Slovenian Supercomputing Centers 2025

Are you ready to take a peek behind the scenes of the technologies that are changing the world? Supercomputers (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI) are the driving force behind modern science, industry, and innovation. These key technologies power weather forecasts, enable medical breakthroughs, drive the development of innovative devices, help us explore space, and much more!

On Thursday, October 16, and Friday, October 17, the partners of the Slovenian National Supercomputing Network (SLING) invite you to the Open Day of Slovenian Supercomputing Centers – Exascale Computing Days, where you can see how the most powerful computers work in real life.

What awaits you?

• An exciting insight into the world of supercomputing: from development to application in science, industry, and everyday life.

• Guided tours of supercomputing systems throughout Slovenia.

• Tailored presentations for all levels of knowledge—from curious individuals to school groups.

Opening their doors:

• EuroHPC Vega at IZUM in Maribor,

• HPC Trdina at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo Mesto,

• Arctur-2 at Arctur in Nova Gorica,

• Ažman Computing Center at the Chemical Institute,

• supercomputing clusters of the Academic and Research Network of Slovenia and the Jožef Stefan Institute on Teslova Street in Ljubljana.

  
  

The presentations, together with the tour, will last approximately one hour and will be adapted to the different levels of knowledge of the visitors. Both individuals and organized groups, such as school classes, are welcome to join us. Registration is mandatory for all participants.

The event will also include a workshop entitled Solving difficult computational problems with supercomputers and quantum computers: an interactive workshop, which we are preparing at Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Center Novo mesto.
