The Jožef Stefan Institute (IJS) has been successful in the ARIS Call for Proposals for Co-funding Longer-term Large Research and Innovation Collaborative Programmes on the TRL 3-6 scale. As coordinator of the DIGITOP programme, it has obtained funding for the implementation of the programme, which is co-funded by the Republic of Slovenia, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
The DIGITOP programme, which is coordinated by the E1 section under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Ales Ude, also includes the E2, E6, E8 and E9 sections at the IJS. In addition to the Institute, the other participating institutions are the {Rudolfovo - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the University of Ljubljana, Kolektor Sisteh, Marovt Manufacturing Company, L-Tek Electronics, Metronik, Datalab Technologies and Yaskawa Europe Robotics.
The programme, worth almost €5 million, with ARIS contributing €3.75 million, will run for 32 months starting this November. It aims to develop and introduce breakthrough technologies in robotics, intelligent process control, artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0 / 5.0 into manufacturing companies.
The initiative builds on the initial cooperation and networking fostered by the ToP SRIP.
