Invitation: 3D Scanning: From Industry to Heritage

How can a real-world object be transferred into a digital environment and turned into an accurate three-dimensional model? To mark European Researchers’ Night, Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto invites you to a presentation on 3D scanning and its applications in industry and cultural heritage preservation.

At the event, you will learn in a simple and engaging way how 3D scanning works and how it is used to create accurate digital models of physical objects. The technology enables fast and reliable capture of their shape, dimensions and surface characteristics.

In industry, 3D scanning is used for product development, quality control, measurement and reverse engineering. It also plays an important role in preserving cultural heritage by enabling the digital documentation of valuable objects and the creation of their digital replicas. In this way, objects and stories from the past can be preserved, studied and presented in a digital environment.

The presentation will be delivered by Karl Cerovšek from Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto.
