INQA 2026 na Bledu združuje 70 udeležencev iz 17 držav. Konferenco o kvantnem računalništvu soorganizirata Institut »Jožef Stefan« in Rudolfovo.

Slovenia is hosting the international INQA conference, dedicated to analogue quantum computing and simulation, for the first time. The event has brought together 70 participants from 17 countries in Bled, with 50 research contributions scheduled from 2 to 4 November. The conference is jointly organised by the Jožef Stefan Institute and Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto.
Following previous editions in London, Innsbruck, Tokyo and Barcelona, the fifth INQA conference is taking place in Slovenia. This year’s theme is “Quantum Simulation and Quantum Computation in Continuous Time”, with a programme covering research from fundamental physical phenomena to practical problems in logistics and biology.
Analogue quantum computers perform computations through the continuous evolution of a quantum state, with results obtained through measurement. Quantum simulation also allows researchers to study the behaviour of complex quantum systems. Contributions presented at the conference address topics in physics and nuclear systems, alongside approaches to vehicle routing, aircraft cargo allocation, protein network alignment and RNA folding.
Researchers from Slovenian institutions presenting their work include Gregor Humar and Dr Emanuele Mendicelli from the Jožef Stefan Institute, as well as Dr Roman Kuzel and Beno Zupanc from Rudolfovo. Invited speakers represent research institutions and companies from Europe, Japan and the United States.
An important part of the conference is the exchange of experience concerning the capabilities of today’s quantum devices and their potential applications. Professor Janez Povh, Director of Rudolfovo and Co-Chair of the Organising Committee, emphasises that assessing whether quantum computing can help solve a specific business problem requires a thorough understanding of both the company’s needs and the capabilities of the available technology. Comparing research results helps researchers decide which approaches are worth developing and testing in Slovenia.
The conference also gives early-career researchers an opportunity to present their work to an international community, receive feedback and establish contacts for future collaboration.
