Rudolfovo among signatories of letter of intent to establish public university in Novo Mesto

On June 10, 2025, at the initiative of the local community, the academic community, and the business community, a letter of intent was signed to establish a public university based in Novo Mesto. The initiative was supported by the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Dr. Igor Papič, the Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Mesto, Gregor Macedoni, and representatives of higher education and research institution in southeastern Slovenia.

Among the signatories of the letter is also Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Center Novo mesto, represented by Prof. Dr. Simon Muhič, acting on behalf of Director Prof. Dr. Janez Povh. With this, Rudolfovo is strengthening its role as a regional research institute that is actively involved in efforts to improve conditions for higher education, research, and innovation in the Dolenjska region.

The letter of intent expresses a common desire to establish a public university that will connect existing higher education and research institutions and contribute to better access to knowledge, human resources development, and further integration with the economy.

At Rudolfovo, we welcome this important step and believe that the new public university will contribute to the long-term strengthening of the region in the fields of science, education, and development.
