Rudolfovo announces a research position in the field of quantum computing applications

Become part of a pioneering research center for quantum computing in Slovenia.

Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Center Novo mesto is looking for a researcher in the field of applied quantum computing who wants to contribute to the development of this rapidly evolving field and be part of Rudolfovo.


This is a permanent full-time research position that offers the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment and participate in national and international research and innovation projects.


Location: Novo mesto, Slovenia

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a doctor of science with a strong methodological background in areas such as:

  • quantum algorithms,

  • quantum optimization,

  • quantum machine learning,

  • hybrid quantum-classical computing.

An interest in the broader social, technological, and managerial dimensions of quantum computing and a willingness to collaborate with industry and the public sector are desirable.


Your tasks will include:

  • research and development of new quantum algorithms with a focus on optimization, HPC, machine learning, etc.,

  • participation in and preparation of projects at the national and international level,

  • mentoring of master's and doctoral students in collaboration with universities,

  • networking with stakeholders from academia, industry, and the public sector,

  • promotion of science and quantum computing through events, workshops, and training courses,

  • participation in the development of research infrastructure for quantum computing at Rudolfovo.


What do we require?

  • PhD in mathematics, physics, computer science, data science, electrical engineering, or related fields.

  • Proven experience in research in the fields of quantum or high-performance computing, optimization methods, machine learning, or numerical linear algebra.

  • Excellent knowledge of English and computer literacy.

  • Independence, organization, teamwork, and a research-oriented mindset.


Advantages (optional, but desirable):

  • experience in interdisciplinary or applied research,

  • knowledge of the principles of open science,

  • experience in acquiring and managing projects,

  • knowledge of one of the languages of the former Yugoslavia.
