Employees of Rudolfovo - Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto visited SLORI - Slovenian Research Institute in Trieste, where they were introduced to the activities and research achievements of the institute in the framework of a professional meeting.
The visit started with a presentation of SLORI's activities, led by its Director , Dr Devan Jagodic. For decades, SLORI has been a key scientific institution for the Slovenian minority in Italy, with the central mission of preserving and developing Slovenian culture and language. Dr. Damjan Popič continued with an insight into current projects in the field of digital linguistics, where SLORI is pushing the boundaries in the research of language technologies and their applications in contemporary society with its innovative approaches.
On this occasion, the Director of Rudolfovo, Prof. Dr. Janez Povh, presented the key research projects carried out under the auspices of the Centre and highlighted the competences offered by the research centres and laboratories both in Slovenia and beyond.
In a relaxed dialogue, the two institutions explored possibilities for future cooperation.
At the end of the visit, Ester Gomisel gave us an overview of the social reality of the Slovenian minority in Italy, highlighting the challenges and opportunities facing this community. This insight contributed to a broader understanding of the importance of SLORI in the local and cross-border context.
Thank you SLORI for the warm welcome, inspiring presentations and constructive discussions!
