On Thursday, 9 October 2025, the 3rd national SPOZNAJ event was held at Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto, dedicated to research security and academic freedom in the context of rapidly changing geopolitical and technological conditions. The forum was co-organized with the Central Technical Library of the University of Ljubljana (CTK) and was held in a hybrid format, allowing participation either in person or online.
The event brought together researchers, representatives from ministries, universities, and other scientific institutions, including prominent international experts. International contributions were provided by Tim Grebe from the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, Prof. Dr. Ben Wagner from the University of Human Rights and Technology at IT:U in Austria, and a representative of the Dutch National Contact Point for Research Security. Among the Slovenian speakers, Prof. Dr. Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar (University of Maribor) and Dr. Nana Šumrada Slavnič (Rudolfovo) stood out.
Participants explored the balance between open research and protection of sensitive knowledge, the importance of institutional approaches to research security, and the challenges posed by artificial intelligence, regulatory requirements, and the global context. The event was executed professionally and smoothly, receiving positive feedback from participants and partners.
The event reaffirmed the role of the SPOZNAJ project and Rudolfovo as key actors in shaping an open, safe, and responsible scientific community in Slovenia.
