Novo mesto, 22 June 2026 – Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto, together with its partners, has received five regional awards for innovation: two gold, two silver, and one bronze. Two of the awarded innovations have also advanced to the national level of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia awards for the best innovations.
The awards connect various fields of Rudolfovo’s work: from artificial intelligence, robotics, and industrial automation to energy, data analytics, and the digital preservation of cultural heritage.
Rudolfovo, together with CNC Borštnar d.o.o. and 3D-ING d.o.o., received a gold award for one of the best innovations in the Posavje region in 2026 for the innovation “AI- and Robotics-Supported Product Inspection in Small-Series Production”. The solution combines artificial intelligence, robotics, and 3D scanning, enabling automated quality control of products in manufacturing environments where products frequently change. Based on a photograph, the system creates a basic 3D model of the product, recognises its shape, and automatically determines the optimal scanning path. The innovation is already being used at CNC Borštnar for the inspection of complex metal components intended for demanding industrial environments, and has also advanced to the national level of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia awards.
A gold award in the Coastal-Karst region was also presented to the innovation “Intelligent System for Optimising Energy Management in Buildings – xEMS”, developed in cooperation between Robotina d.o.o. and Rudolfovo. Using artificial intelligence, xEMS forecasts energy consumption and solar production, enabling the optimisation of battery charging and discharging at 15-minute intervals. The solution helps reduce energy costs, increases the use of renewable energy sources, and supports more efficient building management. This innovation has also advanced to the national level of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia awards.
At the Innovation Day of the Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina, Rudolfovo, together with Robotina d.o.o., received a silver award for the innovation “System for Advanced Analysis of Battery String Condition in UPS Systems – BatteryIQ”. This solution uses advanced data analytics, statistical analysis, and machine learning to monitor the health of batteries in uninterruptible power supply systems. Such systems are essential for data centres, telecommunications networks, airports, and other critical infrastructure. BatteryIQ enables earlier detection of risks related to battery cell failure, thereby improving the reliability of infrastructure operation.
Rudolfovo, together with Roletarstvo Medle d.o.o., received a bronze award from the Chamber of Commerce of Dolenjska and Bela krajina for the innovation “Laser Measurement System for Determining the Width of Profile Spacing on a Production Line”. The solution replaces manual measurement with an automated laser system that continuously measures the spacing between the edges of PVC profiles on the production line. The system enables more precise quality control, faster detection of deviations, and better insight into the production process.
Rudolfovo and the School of Advanced Social Studies in Nova Gorica received a silver award from the Northern Primorska Chamber of Commerce for the social innovation “Culinary Trail”. This is a digital platform for preserving, promoting, and experiencing the culinary heritage of ethnic minorities in the Danube Region. The platform connects more than 700 units of culinary heritage from 14 countries and 35 ethnic groups, placing them in a spatial context through the network of European EuroVelo cycling routes.
“The innovation awards we have received are the best proof that we are fulfilling our mission: creating and transferring high-tech knowledge to partners in the economy,” said Prof. Dr Janez Povh, Director of Rudolfovo, upon receiving the awards.
The awards confirm cooperation that delivers concrete results. Innovations developed with partners are already improving production processes, contributing to more efficient energy management, increasing system reliability, and opening new opportunities for the preservation of heritage. It is precisely through the connection of science, the economy, and the local environment that solutions with direct impact and a contribution to the broader development of the region are created.
