Students Explore Robotics, 3D Technologies and Plant-Based Dyes

On Thursday, 7 May 2026, Rudolfovo – Science and Technology Centre Novo mesto hosted its first event as part of the European Researchers’ Night – RhymeOfLife project. Approximately 43 students from Drska Primary School who attend computer science classes participated in the event, which took place from 9:00 to 11:00.

After being welcomed and divided into three groups, the students rotated between three thematic stations, where they gained first-hand insight into research activities, modern equipment and various applications of new technologies.

At the LabTOP Laboratory for Factories of the Future, they learned about robotics, smart devices and advanced technological solutions. Their visit to the Lab3D Laboratory for 3D Technologies gave them an insight into how 3D printers and 3D scanners work. They also discovered the entire process through which a computer model is transformed into a physical three-dimensional object. At the third station, the participants learned about research into plant-based dyes and their various potential applications.

The programme gave the students direct access to modern research equipment and introduced them to practical applications of computer science, robotics, artificial intelligence and 3D technologies. The visit encouraged their curiosity and interest in research, creativity and problem-solving.
